Lemon is a very rich source of Vitamin C. It also contains other vitamins like vitamin B and riboflavin, minerals like calcium, phosphorus and magnesium as well as proteins and carbohydrates. Packaged lemon juice can never replace the health benefits one can get from natural lemon juice.
In his book Back to Eden, Jethro Kloss confirms the role of lemon in cleansing our system. He said that “The medicinal value of the lemon is as follows: It is an antiseptic, or is an agent that prevents sepsis [the presence of pathogenic bacteria] or putrefaction [decomposition of tissue]. It is also anti-scorbutic, a term meaning a remedy which will prevent disease and assist in cleansing the system of impurities.”
Squeeze lemon juice into your drinking water instead of just decorating your water glass with a lemon slice. Lemon water makes a healthy drink, cleans out the toxins in our body, especially when taken twice a day.
Dr. Gillian McKeith wrote in her book You Are What You Eat, “A warm cup of water first thing in the morning (and even better with a squeeze of lemon) goes right through the bowels and cleans mucus out from the day before. Drink another cup in the evening too.”
People weighing 70 kg or less should squeeze at least one-half of a lemon into one glass of water. Those weighing more than 70 kg should juice at least one whole lemon in a glass of water. One may squeeze more lemon juice according to taste.
Lemon water is very easy to fix. It is very inexpensive compared with other products. So make drinking a glass of lemon water a part of your daily routine. Good luck!
